Senior Lighting Artist (6 month FTC)
The goal at XR Games is to be the best developer of VR titles in the world.
We are a multi award-winning game development studio that specialises in immersive VR games. The studio has a history of full-scale development from concept through to submission, working with prestigious partners such as Sony Pictures VR, Meta, and Rovio Entertainment.
Since 2020 our team has grown from 20 full-time members to almost 100 by the close of 2022, due to the success and critical acclaim of our previous projects such as Zombieland: Headshot Fever and The Angry Birds Movie 2 VR: Under Pressure.
Throughout 2023 & 2024 our team will be working on multiple major projects with recognisable IPs and licences as we continue to grow and invest in our future.
We’re now looking for an experienced Senior Lighting Artist to use their skills and experience to elevate our latest upcoming VR project.
The right person for this role will have extensive expertise in crafting remarkable lighting solutions for video games. Ideally, you will possess a strong background in both baked and real-time lighting techniques, coupled with hands-on experience in developing realistic environments. You will be able to work well independently but also be able to collaborate with the wider team.
Please note, this position will be a 6 month FTC and will be paying approx. £250 - £300 per day. We are able to accept applications for remote workers outside of the UK.
Deliver high quality lighting solutions for our latest upcoming project by placing and refining light sources throughout the game
Enhance the overall emotional tone of the game via lighting techniques
Adhere to set artistic specifications whilst maintaining best practices
Be able to follow concepts, briefs and make required adjustments following feedback
Excellent working experience in Unity (or similar)
Excellent experience and understanding of lighting theory within video games
A thorough understanding of both real-time and baked rendering techniques for games
The ability to convey mood, tone, and emotion through lighting
Strong communication skills
Ability to work independently.
