XR Games becomes one of the first UK games studios to offer Games Programming Apprenticeships

XR Games is proud to announce that it has become one of the first UK-based game studios to launch a games programming apprenticeship
XR Games is one of only a small group of game studios to employ a programming apprentice to work alongside its internal programming team on various unannounced projects
Applications are open now, closing on 25th September.
XR Games is excited to announce that we are one of the first games studios in the UK to offer a games programming apprenticeship, following the newly approved Level 7 Game Programmer Apprenticeship.
The goal of the apprenticeship will be to provide opportunities for those who have not studied games programming, and an alternative route into the role and games industry.
The apprentice will be open to recent graduates who have studied a completely different field to programming, or who have not studied a degree at all.
The apprenticeship will come with significant training and support, and the apprentice will receive training which will cover numerous aspects of games programming in C++.
The apprenticeship will mean you’ll be working on commercial game projects alongside the XR Games team. This will include working on testing in-game features, fixing bugs, coding game features and supporting the other programmers in the team.
Although an apprenticeship doesn’t guarantee continued employment beyond the end of the programme, our goal is to provide you with the best possible opportunity to make a competitive application for a Junior Programmer role here at XR Games once your apprenticeship is complete.
The apprenticeship is expected to last 18-24 months and will be paid £20,000pa.
