HR Director

XR Games (based in Leeds, England) makes Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality games for established and original IPs. We’ve made award-winning games such as Zombieland VR and Angry Birds Under Pressure VR, while working with other world-famous clients.


​We are looking for a talented HR Director to guide us on our journey from start-up to fully fledged SME. Ultimately we are looking for you to set out the strategic plan for the people of XR Games, this will encompass HR, recruitment and L&D. You will be operating at senior management level and will be guiding the CEO and other members of the senior management team to ensure we follow best practices in these areas. 

The right person for this role will already be operating at director level and will have proven experience leading the human resources of a high-growth business. You will have been on this journey before and be well aware of potential pitfalls and mistakes that could lie for us in the future.

​Objectives for the role:

  • Responsible for delivering a comprehensive and transformative HR management and advisory service to the business and for leading our People Strategy.

  • Ensuring that we have an engaged, empowered and productive workforce and a dynamic HR department that can keep pace with growth and change, supporting transition to the modern business culture we aspire to.

  • Lead the HR transformation and ensure that good HR practice plays a leading role in shaping the organisation and driving through the change management process.

  • Be responsible for ensuring that HR policies, processes and procedures are legally compliant, reflect best practice and support the transition to being a modern and progressive employer.

  • Lead on the development of a robust recruitment and retention strategy, underpinned by a compelling Employee Value Proposition (EVP) for the company.

  • Employer branding. CSR. Event representation. 

  • Provide strategic oversight and direction in relation to remuneration policy and practices, and work to benchmark and modernise terms and conditions, remuneration and benefits.

  • Formulate and ensure effective implementation of a Wellbeing strategy.

  • Formulate an Organisational Development Strategy (job level mapping / succession planning), that ensures that our people are motivated by the opportunities, learning and development on offer.

  • Provide strategic advice, guidance, and leadership on all aspects of the key risk areas of Human Resources.

  • Provide a formal and informal employee relations service.

  • To oversee a proportionate and effective HR case management process across the business.

  • Ownership of continued commitment to DE&I.

  • Drive learning and development in acting as L&D Ambassador, continuing to evolve the learning and development strategy.

  • Lead on attaining/retaining external accreditations around People, Talent and Culture such as Investors In People (IIP) award.

This role will offer a mix of home and office-based flexibility and flexible working hours, but the right person will need to be able to reasonably commute to the studio in Leeds.
